Located in Oklahoma City, London built this beautiful container housing complex called Squirrel Park.

The ground floor of the houses was built using two shipping containers to hold the kitchen, dining and living room. Upstairs there are two additional shipping containers with two bedrooms and a master bedroom balcony.

The white exterior combines a modern and industrial aesthetic with white paint and mirrors to reflect the hot Oklahoma sun.

One of the goals when designing the squirrel park was to provide outdoor recreational and interactive areas.

Green roofs contribute to the sustainability of these homes and improve energy efficiency. Green roofs, also known as living roofs, help keep homes warm in winter and cool in summer, while helping to mitigate the urban island effect.

The property has kept the existing mature trees and added many new plants to keep Squirrel Park green and beautiful. In addition to the second-floor balcony, the home also has a swing set on the front porch for outdoor relaxation.

Squirrel Park is a great example of what cities should be doing when it comes to meeting housing needs. The homes are spacious, sustainable and resilient enough to last for decades without extensive maintenance.

The unique nature of the site as a park-like setting will be enhanced by retaining existing mature trees, providing shared outdoor spaces and new planting, and adding a green roof to enhance energy efficiency and biodiversity.
