The former empty barn was transformed into a country retreat in ten days. Is this the charm of shipping containers?

What I bring to you today is a set of homestay container designs from Thailand. This set of designs has transformed this land from an empty rice warehouse into an orchard and a weekend country resort for family leisure.

In the early communication and design, the owner decided to make the design more flexible, so that the house can be rented short-term to families with children as a holiday residence in the future. At this time, it is convenient and the container with high design space has become the preferred prefabricated structure, and using the container as the main interior space has become the first choice of designers and customers.

The central goal of this design is to create an outdoor resort, combining indoor and outdoor as the spatial order of the building. In the container pod, two boxes are connected to form the main public space of the house, and on the other side is a box that serves as a pantry and dining room. Due to the narrow country roads, each container measures 6 meters.

Between the two rooms is a cement platform, which is also a semi-outdoor space where the main gathering place of the house is. The second level is more private and is constructed as a box on top of two boxes on the ground floor, serving as bedrooms with a private terrace area.

Due to the tropical climate, the structural roof of the A-frame not only has the design ornamental function, but also serves as a sunshade for the container cabin. The baffles are also used for shading and waterproofing, but are insulated by controlling the wind direction. Outside the container cabin is an outdoor dining area and kitchen, and the independent container bedroom is connected to a small swimming pool and deck, and a small artificial reservoir is next to it.
